ABOUT Les

Having served a full apprenticeship, I became a general builder and recently had a building business in France before embarking on expeditions to write and make documentaries of the journeys.  I have been a radio presenter with Canadian Forces Broadcasting Services, presenting the Saturday morning show from Brunsum in Holland.  I was a BMS missionary for six years.  I have run a bed and breakfast and have a full drinks license, cooked in a burger bar, play guitar, mandolin and nearly sing on key.  I have been married several times and now keep my personal life private.  I have conducted over 100 funerals and attempt to live life to the full and have as much fun as I can in the process.

Les Donohue-Bromley?

I am English, live in France and have a good standard of spoken French.  I am coming to Canada to make a documentary about crossing Canada, West to East on the Great Trail, Pacific to Atlantic, approximately 7,000 km.

I have completed a four-month voyage across Europe, from the North Sea, starting in Rotterdam, Holland on the 1st April, 2016 to the Black Sea port of Constanta in Romania, travelling through nine countries. The journey was made with an inflatable double beach Banana, hitch hiking on the ships that travers the international inland rivers and canals and completing the journey by fitting an outboard motor, to travel the last 1000km on the Danube river.  I have videoed the whole journey, the incredible encounters, dangers and delights of the adventure and am now writing the book.  When it is finished, I will produce the video, mostly filmed in HD and UHD.  You can find more about the whole amazing journey at www.gobanana.info

I have lived and worked in England, Scotland, Wales, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Italy, Cyprus and the Democratic Republic of Congo.  I have visited twelve other countries for various reasons, sometimes even for a holiday.  As a young boy spring to Autumn weekends were spent camping with family and I often spent whole days on my own exploring forests, mountains and coastlines delighting in discovering new places and seeing the wider world outside my home town of Bootle, near the docks just to the north of Liverpool.  This kindled my spirit of adventure which stays with me.
