Canada Trail Trek
November

The first few weeks of November have concentrated my thoughts about the Trek; March 2018 seems a very long way off at the moment but experience has taught me sixteen months will pass very quickly.
I have been researching Canada. It’s history, geography, early explorers, (Andrew Mackenzie’s journeys) and looking at today’s Canadian culture. This is no easy task; there are so many aspects to the project I am feeling overwhelmed. This is not a simple journey to be made as if I am taking a holiday in Canada. I am well aware that to make a video about the expedition, I will be encountering cultures I know almost nothing about and I therefore must educate myself to be able to ask the right questions, and engage in real conversations with sensitivity to the complex society I will be travelling through. This is not to say that the point of the expedition, is in a great part, a voyage of discovery, an adventure into the unknown and hopefully an opportunity to engage with the people I meet. Because of the nature of a voyage it will not be possible to spend long periods in any one place, therefore some back-ground knowledge is essential, and it is that endeavour I am involved in now.
